All in One Week

This year has seen a reversion of sorts to what winters used to be like. Before we all could visibly see the impact of global warming.

Across the NW corner of Italy (and I'm including the Cervo Valley in that) there has been quite some snowfall. If not metres high at village level, at least regular snowfall. Certainly the high mountains and passes around the Matterhorn, Monte Rosa and Grand St Bernard, have been subject to regular avalanche warnings with 75cm dumps occuuring pretty often in February and early March.

So I timed my visit to the cabin perfectly. Not! The day I was due to arrive the forecast was fresh snow so I delayed the arrival 24 hours. Just enough to imprint the first footprint marks on the path.

At first you think this will never melt but by mid-week, the warming Spring temperatures had all but completely eliminated the evidence. At cabin level (970m) that is. Higher up, the mountains still bore witness to it being winter.

Some quick snaps of the flower life, winter skies and proof of what I had set out to do - replenish the firewood supply!

If you're interested in spending some time at the cabin this year, take a look at the calendar showing availability and then message me to find out more.

Enjoy Spring where you are.

Till next time - Ciao!
